How Can I Get Lost Data Back on Mac Lion 10.7?

My question is I deleted an important file, I don’t have a backup. What now?

Hi, the first thing you need to make sure is that after file lose happened, did you put anything new in to your Mac drive? If yes, the chances of getting back your files may be reduced because of the data overwritten situation.

Actually, when you lose or delete a file from your hard drive even empty the Mac trash, the file itself is not deleted, only the space of it has been freed up and wait for the new files. Once the new files take the space of the "deleted file", this "deleted file" is really deleted. So remember this, after data loss happened, don't put anything new into your drive or storage device which your "deleted files" were stored before.

If you can make sure you did not put anything into your drive, then you can start to consider to find ways to recover your file. You can choose the repair shop or third-party recovery software.

Just calm down first.

I know that data loss is a big problem for many computer users, especially for Mac users 'cause most of the Mac user think Mac OS is complicated than Windows OS (in my opinion it is.).

To solve your data loss problem and perform Mac file recovery, these tips you may need to follow.

  • If you meet the data loss problem, stop operating your device/computer right now because it may cause the worse result such as data overwritten, and this situation will make the probability of recovering deleted files decrease from 95% .
  • If you’ve lost a file, time is of the essence. As new files saved to Mac hard drive or storage devices, the original files gets overwritten. So do not use the drive or disk which your deleted files are stored before at all, until you have completed the scanning and recovery process.
  • To avoid data loss, build a back up for your files in the hard drive is necessary. What's more, don't always move your computer (absolutly not include your laptop) to protect them from the crash or any other physical trauma which can lead to the harm to your computer hard drive.

How to Recover Accidentally Deleted Files in OS X
    http://www.wikihow.com/Recover-Accidentally-Deleted-Files-in-OS-X

"Did you accidentally delete a file in Os X that you needed? Even though it may seem impossible, it isn't. All the articles online said it couldn't be done, or could only be done with expensive file recovery software, or if you had already been running backups with Time Machine. So before you invest your hard-earned cash, try this method to see if you too can recover your files absolutely free."
