Will driving wheels that are compatible with the PS3 also work with the PS4?

One of my more fun Christmas presents was a copy of Gran Turismo 6 and a Logitech Driving Force wheel for my PS3. I’m also planning on getting a PS4 soon, and now that I’ve learned how much fun driving games are with a wheel, I’m a wheel devotee. The Logitech wheel was pretty expensive, I think it was almost $200 (thanks dear), and it says that it is compatible with the PS3 and PS2. Does anyone know if it will also work with a PS4 when I make the upgrade?

Generally speaking, no. However, at launch, users will be able to use these controllers if a specific game title allows it to be used within the game. This decision is upon the game developer and will vary from game to game."

From what I understand, it depends on the software developers, and whether they include support for an older wheel that was designed for the PS3. You have a popular (and good) wheel, so if any wheel is going to have PS4 developer support, I would bet it would be the Logitech Driving Force. Wheels are a big investment, and there are some $250 options out there, so I would hope that developers support the older wheels for a while.

Here is the direct quote from Sony:  “Generally speaking, no. However, at launch, users will be able to use these controllers if a specific game title allows it to be used within the game. This decision is upon the game developer and will vary from game to game.”
