How to get Android 4.4 update for Nexus 7?

Android 4.4 KitKat is supposedly released now, and news reports last week said that it was available for Nexus 7. I’ve gone into my settings and checked for updates, but it just says everything is up to date even though it is still on Android 4.3 and doesn’t give me any options to install anything. What do I need to do to get the 4.4 update?

Just be patient, it takes a few weeks for an OTA rollout to be completed. They don’t just update every single device on day one. Some people have already gotten the update, but it’s more or less a matter of luck on your timing. Google has made the factory image for 4.4 KitKat available, so you could flash it yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. For that average user, I would say just wait a little longer. It shouldn’t be more than a week or two until you get an OTA update. Here is the link to the factory image if you want it: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#nakasi
