How can I assign a static drive letter to a flash drive in Windows 7?

Is there a way to assign a static drive letter (such as (R:) drive or (S:) drive) to a flash drive so that I always get the same drive designation when I use it?

How to Assign a Static Drive Letter to a USB Drive in Windows 7

"Do you have an external USB hard drive or flash drive that you use frequently for backups or for use with applications? Every time you plug it in you may get a different drive letter for that drive.

Plug in your flash drive. Go to Control Panel and select System and Security. In the System and Security window, click Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management (Under Storage). All the drives on your PC will be visible to the right. Right click your flash drive on the list, then select Change Drive and Letter Paths from the pop-up. In the resulting dialog box, click on the your drive and then choose whatever unused letter you want for your flash drive from the drop-down menu. Click OK and you should be all set.
