How to use older audio systems with LED TVs that only have optical digital audio output?

I was setting up a new LED TV for use with my tablet, laptop and PS3, and had planned to hook it up to a Bose Wave for better sound. However, the inputs on the Bose are RCA jacks and the audio output on the TV is a Optical Digital Audio Out. Is there a way to connect the two?

I think Owen has it right on this. I wonder if it's worth the bother though, is the sound system going to make it that much better for the money? I'd probably skip it, but then again I'm not an audiophile so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Yes, but it is fairly expensive, and you have to make sure that you either get one that can convert a dolby digital signal to analog 2-channel, or change all the audio output settings on your display to 2-channel stereo. They range from about $40-80 dollars online. That’s still going to be cheaper than all but the lowest quality soundbar.
