Are a few bad sectors on a HDD cause for concern?

A hard drive scan on my MacBook showed 19 bad sectors. I don’t really have a standard of comparison. Is this number acceptable or does it mean I need to think about replacing my hard drive.

Have you tried them repaired ? And would be wise that you save important data to usb drive or something
similarly.

19 bad sectors isn’t really many, but it is a worrying sign. Once you start seeing errors, in my experience things tend to get worse. Scan it again regularly, and I bet that you will start to see more errors. If not, then just call me some idiot on the internet and don’t worry about it. Oh, and as jimlynch said, back up your data!

First, make sure you back up all of your data safely. So if you lose the drive it won't be as big a deal. Second, I'd call Apple support or bring it to an Apple store and figure out if you need to have it replaced.

You are better off if you are proactive and deal with it now, rather than waiting until you possibly have more problems later on. Good luck.
