Can the UK pull off it’s plan to censor internet porn?

The government in the UK has asked ISPs to implement adult content filters for all British internet users. Do you think they can actually make this work? I have my doubts, when you look at the lack of success countries like Iran and China have had with internet censorship, but maybe I’m wrong.

Pffft. No, it won’t work, at least not as intended. I don’t live in the UK now, but I used to live in London. If I was still there and faced with this, I would opt in for adult content just on general principle. Without a doubt censoring content is going to mean that not only does the intended content get censored, you are also going to block a lot of things that aren’t really intended. Will an academic human sexuality study be filtered? Maybe. What about art? Again, maybe. There is no way that the filtering will be perfect, and it will cause a loss of free access to information. Plus, what’s the point really? John Oliver addressed this recently, much to my amusement. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-august-7-2013/leader-s-digest---gr...
