There is always a bit of a risk when you get a new product that there will be some bugs that weren’t completely worked out. Always. But I just got a Nexus 7 ( the new 2013 model) a few days ago. I can only tell you about mine, but I haven’t seen any pinch to zoom issues. In fact, the pinch to zoom works great on it, as good or better than any Android device I’ve ever used. My GPS was kind of janky at first, but I installed all the updates, of which there was a surprising number for a device that JUST came out, and now it seems to be working fine. It did have one weird restart when I was in Maps, just playing around. For no apparent reason, the tablet just restarted itself. It’s only happened once, at least so far. I suppose I would echo what Christopher said; if you don’t mind waiting a month or so, it might improve your chance of getting a perfectly functioning Nexus 7 right out of the box, but it’s worth buying now. It’s the best Android device I’ve used in terms of speed, smoothness, and display, plus it is relatively inexpensive.
