First of all you need to log in to mail with a Microsoft account. If you don’t have a Microsoft account, click on the sign up for a Microsoft account and create new.
From within mail, use Windows + I key to open Mail settings, now click on Accounts to add new Gmail account. Now, click on Add an account, select Gmail to add. You can also add other email provider. Provide login details for the Gmail and then click connect. You should now see a prompt asking to enter your Gmail account details. Provide your Gmail details. If you wish to use Google contacts and calendars then check the “Include your Google contacts and calendars” check box. Then click connect button, it will connect to Gmail and load your emails.
If you still get an error during to setup your Gmail account then ensure your Mail app is up to date and confirm your login details by logging into Gmail via a web browser and try setting up your account again.
