How do I send calls directly to voicemail on my iPhone?

Sometimes I'm busy and I want to focus on work so I would like to see who's calling, so shutting off my phone isn't the best solution. Is there a better way to send all callers, or just certain callers to voicemail?

On the latest iPhones and firmware there is a do not
Disturb function. While this is on call should go directly to voicemail.
However you can set it up to let people you designate as
VIP in your contacts so if they call it will
Ring if you select that feature in settings.

just put your phone in airplane mode and all calls go directly to voicemail but you won't see who's calling or even that you got a call until you check, but you won't be disturbed while working...i sometimes want to listen to music uninterrupted while spinning and resort to airplane mode,

Hi dbrown,

Here's a tip on how to do just that:

iPhone Tip: Send a call directly to voicemail
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/iphone-tip-send-a-call-directly...

"Send an incoming call directly to voicemail by quickly double-clicking the top power button. I tried it and – unsurprisingly – works like a charm!"

But here's where the iPhone is a big fat fail. There's no way to pick a user from your contacts list, say, "Mom", and make all her calls go straight to voicemail. That's not a problem with an Android phone.

Ok, maybe Apple doesn't make provisions for you to send all your calls from mom straight to voicemail, but it can be done on an iphone if you jailbreak your phone. But I wouldn't recommend that, because jailbreaking makes your phone more susceptible to exploits. Another trick you could use is to create a silent ringtone (the sound of silence?) and assign it to your Mom. Not trying to judge, but shouldn't you just talk to her?

There's a number of ways to send calls to voicemail. You can quickly shut your phone to silent mode by flipping the switch on the side of the phone, which will then send all calls to voicemail. Or when a call comes in, you can double-tap the power button and it silences the ringer, sending that call to voicemail.
