What causes runtime errors in Windows?

I’m using Windows 7, and I occasionally get runtime errors. What causes them, and is there anything I can do to prevent them?

What is a runtime error?
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/what-is-a-runtime-error

"A runtime error is a software or hardware problem that prevents a program from working correctly. Runtime errors might cause you to lose information in the file you're working on, cause errors in the file (corrupt the file) so you can't work with it, or prevent you from using a feature. Unlike stop errors, runtime errors don't typically cause Windows or a program to stop working.

Runtime errors can occur if you are running two software programs that are not compatible, if your computer has memory problems, or if the computer has been infected with malicious software."

It depends what runtime error is your windows 7 getting.

It could be corrupted visual C++ library or could be oudated java.

let us know about  it so that we can discuss how to cure it.

I would guess the most likely cause is insufficient RAM. Some of the software you are running may need more than you have installed, and cause the error.

Here's what Microsoft says causes runtime errors, along with some ways to troubleshoot them:

Runtime errors can occur if you are running two software programs that are not compatible, if your computer has memory problems, or if the computer has been infected with malicious software. If a runtime error keeps occurring, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Install the latest updates for Windows and for the program displaying the error.

  • Report problems so Windows can notify you if solutions are available.

  • Check your computer for viruses and always run an antivirus program.

  • Make sure your computer has the minimum amount of random access memory (RAM) required to run the program that is displaying the error. Look for the program requirements online or in the packaging information.
