Will it void my AppleCare warranty if I install RAM myself?

Does it have any impact on warranty coverage if you upgrade RAM on your own? I've seen how high the repair costs can be on a Mac Pro, and I don't want an unpleasant surprise later if something goes wrong with it.

You might want to check Apple's support site:

No, as Christopher said, it won't void your warranty. But keep in mind that if you damage anything while installing it, that obviously would be not covered though AppleCare, nor will the parts that you install.

The answer, according to a couple of folks on this Apple support thread, is no:

"No. Providing no damage is caused during the installation."

"No. In fact your computer contains instructions on how to do so: >About this Mac>More Info>Memory."

But, again, you can't botch the job or all bets are off.
