How to save a quick note to myself on an Android phone?

I use Evernote for making lists, clipping things, etc., but it is overkill for a quick reminder to go by the bank or whatnot, plus I have to remember to check it. I've been using calendar, which is a little quicker and gives me a heads up if I want it, but is there a way to just make a simple note that I can see without having to go look for it? I know this is very much a "first world problem," but it is one of those little things that bug me. Thanks.

You might want to check the Google Play store for free note apps. There's bound to be something there you can install, that's probably your best bet.

There are a  lot of notepad type apps out there, and pretty much all of them will do the trick. I like Floating Stickies (free - Google Play) because it's (1) free, (2) simple, (3) is only 293k, and (4) let's me put a persistent "sticky note" anywhere I want on my display.  One downside to the understandable need for developers to differentiate their apps from others is that when they add features, it can get away from just being a simple, basic tool, which, when you are looking for a simple, basic tool, defeats the purpose. Floating Stickies doesn't have anywhere near the features of Evernote, but if you just want to jot a couple of words or a number down for a moment, it's great.
