I've read posts of other people having a similar issue in the past week or so. The solutions that they found were to:
1. Restarting their iPhone/iPad.
2. Force closing App Store and restarting it.
3. Updating apps through iTunes synch.
4. Searching for the individual apps that your device is telling you has updates available and going directly to the individual app on the App Store.
Hopefully one of those will work for you. Since this is something that is effecting a number of users, Apple will recognize a potential issue exists and fix it quickly.
