How do you unlock the bootloader on HTC One V?

I "need" to unlock the bootloader on a HTC One V so I can root it and flash a custom ROM. I've never owned an HTC device before and have never dealt with a bootlocker. How do I go about unlocking it?

"The HTC One V already carries Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a dose of HTC Sense 4.0, which is more than perfect for some users. But, if you are not satisfied with the performance of the phone’s stock ROM, or want to have a Sense-less ROM, you should try installing tweaked and optimized custom ROMs to your mobile phone.

But, before we tackle how to improve the performance of the HTC One V, you will need to unlock its bootloader for you to flash custom ROMs. For the price of voiding your phone’s warranty and the risk of bricking your phone, unlocking your phone’s bootloader lets you flash custom ROMs and enhance your phone’s performance.

Read on to learn how to unlock your HTC One V’s bootloader."

It's really not that hard, you just have to take a couple more steps than you would for most other devices. HTC doesn't make it too hard for you though. One thing that makes it a little different on the One V is that you cannot pull your battery, but if you hold down the power button for 10+ seconds, then volume down and release the power button, it will take you to the bootloader mode. You will also need to use a computer to complete the process. Android forums has a complete step by step guide.  It should be pretty

straightforward if you've ever rooted a phone before.
