Will Blackberry Messenger Voice convince you to consider the BlackBerry10?

RIM says that it is going to add BBM Voice to its services, which will allow free voice calls over Wi-Fi between BlackBerry users. Obviously, I don't know how well the service will work, but free is good. Is this really a feature that will help drive users back to BlackBerry? Why wouldn't it work with all other phones, and not just with other BlackBerries?

No, Blackberry is a dying platform and this won't save it. Sad but true. Blackberry's day has passed. Time to move on to iOS or Android.

I can make free calls over WiFi with my Android phone all day long.  I use GooveIP, but there are other VoIP apps out there.  I could even call somebody's BlackBerry, if I knew anyone that actually had one.  I suppose there must have been some security basis for ONLY allowing those free WiFi calls to other BB users.  Why would they limit it like that?  Maybe they just didn't want their free service getting used much.  :-/

BTW, low cost carrier Republic has based its business model on its customers making calls over WiFi, so RIM isn't exactly offering a new, cutting edge service.

Absolutely not. For starters, what percentage of your contacts are BlackBerry users? I don't see this helping RIM's cause. I simply think it's too late.
