There are quite a few good headphones out there, although not at $10 as you have realized. My favorite in-ear style are Klipsch Image S5i ear buds. I use them every day, and I think I spent about $125 on them. Once you get to the $100 price point you can start to find much better products. There are a number of brands that are dependably good quality, both in build and sound output. For example, Klipsch, Bose and Sennheisers (that you mentioned) are always going to be decent, although not always exceptional. On the downside, you pay a premium for the brand name. It is a little bit of hit and miss choosing headphones because of personal preferences. I spent a lot of time around large caliber weapons a few years ago, and as a result I like headphones with a "bright" sound to make up for some of my loss of ability to hear high frequency sounds. In contrast one of my pals loves Beats, which I think are muddy sounding, because the bass is emphasized. Keep that in mind when you are reading reviews.
