How much longer will last years flooding in Asia impact hard drive supplies?

I put off some hardware purchases at the end of the year because HDD prices spiked due to shortages caused by flooding in Asia. Have manufactures been able to ramp up production to meed demand yet, or are supply shortages still an issue?

The production levels have been increased to meet the demand, but still there is a shortage.

Seagate and WD both announced that it may take another 6-10 months to level the scenario, Initially the shortage was recorded at 150 Million Units by Seagate, and now figures have changed....

The prices were really instable

In a recent press release from Dell, they referenced the flooding related HDD shortage, and noted that the supply shortage was passing and as a result they were seeing lower HDDs prices.  It may take a little longer for the prices to come down to where you want on the consumer side, but it sounds like the worst has passed.  Seagate, who just acquired LaCie, also seems to view the supply shortage as coming to an end.  You might want to wait just a little longer if you can before making a major purchase, but it seems like the storm has passed for the most part.  No pun intended.

Your best bet is to probably check out sites like Amazon, New Egg, etc. and see what they have available. Check prices and see what the current status is of the products you are interested in.

I have not heard any recent news regarding flood recovery, but I sure hope it has happened.
