100% agree with pcaulfield's answer.
but would like to add..
what applications do you NEED.
very little research to determine if what you need is Windows or Mac only or either one.
this is becomeing less and less of an issue as time goes on, but some programs persist in one platform only.
to me, not worrying about needing AVware/Malware applications is a plus. i run zero.
but really. even tho I am a Mac user, it's about your NEEDS.
both platforms can be just as good as the other. you just need to stay on top of your Windows a little more.
Apple’s main advantage is in how well their products work together. It’s still easier for people who work in graphic design, audio, or video editing to work on a Mac because the tools work nicer together. Some high-end tools like Logic still only work on OSX. But for office computing, save yourself $500 and run Windows 7. Just be prepared to spend a bit more time and money on security software to protect you from spyware and viruses. There’s over 100,000 viruses for the PC, and not one yet for OSX (viruses and malware are not the same thing).
