SSH is the Secure SHelter Authentication Protocol. SSH give you good authentication and secure communications over unsecured channels. Basically, it provides a way to log in to another machine over a network, and move files and execute commands. It helps prevent IP spoofing and source routing, as well as protecting against interception of passwords by intermediate hosts.
