How to output MacBook to an external display with HDMI input?

Basically, I’d like to use my nice new TV as my MacBook’s display when I’m sitting around my living room, but I don’t have Apple TV or any casting devices like Amazon Fire or Chromecast.

You can simply connect an HDMI cable to your Mac and TV. On your TV select HDMI input. On your Mac in System Preferences under Displays > Arrangements you can select if your want the TV to be primary or extended display. You can adjust audio output and switch it to your TV in System Preferences > Sound > Output.
