How important is Network+ certification in the IT job market?

Is it something that is needed to help one move forward in an IT career? I don't want to waste time and money just to hang things on my ego wall.

Hi riffin,

Here's an interesting discussion among some tech folks about the value of this certification. It might give you an idea of how others see it and what their experiences have been with it.

I think it is one of the more important certifications.  It indicates to me that an applicant has a solid foundation of technical knowledge and most likely has the skills needed to maintain and operate a basic network, and has the ability to troubleshoot problems.  It is pretty inexpensive to obtain, so if you have the underlying knowledge and skills, I think it is very worthwhile to be Network+ certified.
