How to stop Windows 10 from automatically installing downloaded updates?

Is there a way I can stop Windows from installing updates automatically? Usually, it’s not a problem, but sometimes it can happen when I’m in the middle of something. I’d rather complete the update manually instead of my laptop just doing it whenever it pleases.
Unfortunately there isn't a simple check box option to turn off automatic updates, but there's a number of workarounds you can use. You can schedule the reboots required by updates in Settings > Update & security > Advanced options > Windows Update > Notify to schedule restart.
You can set your connection to Metered for a specific internet connection. On the Metered connection type updates will not install automatically, and you'll have a button to install and download them. To setup go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced options > Set as metered connection.
In professional editions of Windows you can setup Group Policy or edit registry to completely disable automatic updates.
