How to fix "Google Play Services has stopped" error on tablet?

my daughter has an RCA Voyager tablet, (8gb) storage, a box keeps popping up saying (Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped, please update) I've tried to update it and i get an error code-501...the tablet is android 5.0 lollipop, please help
IABunin, Thank You for your knowledge of this. I will certainly try it, and let you know what I come up with 😄😄
Let's try the easiest thing first:
1. Go to SETTINGS>APPS (or SETTINGS>APPS>ALL, depending on your device).
2. Click on the 3 verticle dots on the upper right to open the menu.
3. Click on "Reset app preference" to restore everything to default settings.

If that doesn't work, try clearing the cache and updates, then reinstalling the updates.

2. Scroll down to Google Play Services and click on it.
3. Clear the cache and clear all data. This can vary slightly from device to device. The options could be on the Google Play Service app screen that you just opened, or when there you might have to click on STOREAGE>CLEAR CACHE and STORAGE>MANAGE SPACE>CLEAR ALL DATA. I don't have an Android 5.0 device in front of me, so I'm not sure which it would be for you.
4. Go to the Google Play Store and install updates https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms

Good luck, hope this works for you.
