What’s the difference between meta tags and meta descriptions?

Meta tags are html tags (keywords, title, description) that can be coded into webpages. They are usually not visible to the view, but can be scanned by search engines to produce more accurate search results.
Meta keyword are words that the coders putts in to emphasize the content of the site. Whereas, descriptions are usually a few sentences long pointing out the main content of the site.

For example if you are looking at a computer repair site, keywords could be: computer, fix, town... Description could be: fix computer problems within a number of hours, 24/7 support...
