Is there a way to defragment hard drives in game consoles?

This came up during a gaming session last night, and none of us knew whether there was a way to defrag HDDs in game consoles, or even if there is a need to do so. I have a pretty wide variety of consoles with hard drives (Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4) and as far as I know there is no way to defrag the drive on any of them. Can you defragment a HDD in a PlayStation or Xbox?
From my understanding, there's no options to defrag the HDD of an Xbox, but it also shouldn't need to do it. You can clear system cache in settings but that's about it. As far as PS I though this answer regarding PS3 on a forum, but never tried it. other then that I don't believe you have the option to, similar to Xbox you can re build the database which might increase performance. Here's the tread I saw "yes you can, but you need the firmware 2.50 or above to do this. First you need to turn off your ps3, then turn on as you normally would, but do not let go of the on button, then eventually it will make a beep then go off, when you hear the last beep, let go for a second until it turns off. then do the same again, until you hear 2 beeps together, then follow the on screen instructions. Then you will come to the recovery screen. Then there should be, Defrag hard drive, if its not you don't have the right ps3:)"
