Are both Playstation network and PS Plus required for PS4?

Had to renew both to play online...
Here's the explanation from Sony's PS4 site:

"You need to be a member of PlayStation Plus or have a local user account on the subscriber’s ‘Primary PS4’ to play many games online. You can find full details of what PlayStation Plus features you can share with your friends here.

One PlayStation Plus membership allows all local accounts on the subscriber’s ‘Primary PS4’ to play online through their SEN accounts. The PlayStation Plus member does not need to be logged in on the PlayStation 4 for other users to play online."
I see. So on my main account on my primary ps4 all I need is ps plus., and that allows multiple users on the console. Please excuse me, I have to cancel some other subscriptions.
Yep, that's right.

If you are on reddit, you might consider subscribing to the PS4deals subreddit. You can often find PS+ annual subscriptions for ~$40 instead of the $50 that Sony charges. When you add in the free games, even if some of them aren't great, it's a pretty good deal.
