How to get Brother printer to work after Windows 10 upgrade?

My Brother HL2270 laser printer was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10. Now, my PC recognizes it, shows that it is the active printer and behaves as if everything is fine, except that nothing prints. What do I need to do to get my printer working again after upgrading to Windows 10?
I had the same issue with a different model of Brother printer after updating to Windows 10. The solution was pretty simple in my case: uninstall the printer driver and reinstall it.
