How will the new PS4.5 (or PS4K) differ from the current version of PS4?

I’m a little perplexed at the idea of Sony releasing a newer, better PS4 a mere 3 years after launch, In the past, Sony did release updated console versions, but they were usually cheaper versions of the original hardware. It sounds like this time will be different and it will actually be a hardware upgrade. What is Sony going to change on the new PS4 (aka PS4.5, PS4K), and will games for it still work on the original version of the PS4?
From what I've read hardware vise it looks like some large enhancements are going to be done to the GPU and addition of RAM is expected. This will allow the system to support 4K gameplay and video stemming and enhance the VR experience. As far as backward compatibility for games, it looks like yes, the content should be accessible on PS4. Here are a couple of videos and articles that cover it in more detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7I3GV4Gesk&feature=youtu.be
