How to safely clean a MacBook screen?

What’s the best way to clean the display on a MacBook? Also, what should be avoided? I’d hate to accidentally damage anything.
Here's the official apple suggestion:
To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with water only, then use it to clean the computer's screen.

Avoid any chemical solutions, and make sure that the cloth is clean, otherwise you could scratch the surface.
I would just add that if you use water, you might want to use distilled water. Where I live we have hard water (lots of minerals in it), and it can leave spots. With distilled water, this isn't a problem.
