How much would you pay for a Virtual Reality headset?

Oculus Rift’s pricing was just announced and it is going to cost a cool $600. Sony’s PlayStation VR is slated for release later this year, and while pricing has not yet been announced, Sony did say that it would be priced similar to a console, which suggests a $350-400 price point. I’m interesting in the VR experience, but not $600 interested (plus you have to have a pretty beefy PC to run it). What will people be willing to pay to own their own VR experience?
As I look over at my 3D TV with its little used 3D feature, I'm reminded that sometimes it doesn't pay to be an early adopter. I'm interested in VR, but not to the point where I am willing to spend a large amount until I see how it is actually utilized. Simple walking around in a VR environment is not enough.

I defiantly not in at the $600 price point. When a decent VR unit can be bought for $300 or less, I'm in.
