Why is my computer not giving me the logon screen and keeps returning to the "Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete" prompt?

My computer downloaded some windows update and installed them when I was shutting down in the evening. It went through the normal configurations of the installed updates next morning on start-up. It gave the 'Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete key' but never went further to give the logon screen. My computer is a Panasonic Toughbook (CF19) and runs Windows 7 Professional 32bits. I removed the the hard drive and inserted one from my other Toughbooks. The computer started normally with the replacement hard drive. But the removed hard drive wont work when inserted into the other toughbook
All the issues you describe I faced it earlier. This happens because your Operating system being corrupt. So you need to install fresh OS.
What happens when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del? Try restoring to last good known configuration and doing a startup repair.
when I press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys, it just keep returning to the ctr+alt+delete prompt. I have tried starting from Last known good Configuration and all the options but it just gets me to the ctrl+alt+delete screen and keeps returning to it.
Are you able to login using safe mode?
