Is there a way for "big data" to be widely shared within a company?

There is so much information gathered, if it is sequestered and only used for specific approved projects by a few people in a few departments, there must be many uses for data that are being ignored. If it can be opened up to wider access in a basically unstructured manner, I can't help but think that currently unimagined uses will be found and integrated into daily operations. How can this openness be achieved?

Hi mstrauss,

Here's an interesting article about data sharing that you might find helpful. It seems to cover institutionalized data sharing and may be relevant to what you are asking about.
