What’s the difference between WPA2 AES and WPA2 TKIP?

Is one of these more secure than the other?
WPA2 has some better commercial capabilities (802.11x authentication), but for most personal usage I think WPA is about as good. WPA now offers AES encryption in most equipment. Some slightly older equipment won't do WPA2.

So for me, I use WPA-AES even though some of my hardware could do WPA2.
AES and TKIP are two different encryption protocols. TKIP is a legacy protocol that is no longer considered secure. WPA2 AES is the preferred encryption standard.
