How to resolve Office document cache problem?

I have a problem that many others seems to have. The message “The Microsoft Office document cache encountered a problem. Click to repair problem.” keeps popping up. When I “click to repair problem” I just get a series of upload center error message that say the problem needs to be repaired to continue, then when I click THAT repair, I get a message that it can’t be repaired because the cache is already in use.

I have looked at all the other threads on this topic, however I have found the solutions to be too 'technical' for me to follow and would really appreciate some very basic instruction to cure this issue. I have an Acer Aspire E1-571 laptop and use Mozilla Firesfox as my browser. Many thanks in anticipation.
Hello Sveta,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I have been unable to get past instruction 2. Everytime I click 'End Task', more MSOSYNC.EXE lines open up - the same happens with CSISSYN-1.EXE. It is an endless process. My OS is Windows 8.1 and I have been clicking 'end task' for 15 minutes now - any more thoughts would be gratefully received.
You can try rebooting and going straight to step 4 (or check that those processes aren't running). If that doesn't work in task manager one of taps should be your Startup items. uncheck anything MS Office related from automatically starting up (don't touch any windows/computer startup utilities), reboot and go to step 4. Hope this helps.
Try deleting the office cache file.
1. press Ctr+Alt_Del and select task manager
2. Select processes MSOSYNC.EXE and CSISSYN~1.EXE on at a time and click End task.
3. Confirm that you want to end process.
4. Open Windows explorer.
5. in the top menu bar click on View and check Hidden Files.
6. Navigate to C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ or \14.0 depending on the Office version you're using.
7. delete the folder OfficeFileCache and any other folders with this name like OfficeFileCache.old.
8. Reboot and you should be good to go.
