Ice Cream Sandwich is coming. What does that mean?

Android's Ice Cream Sandwich is due soon. What does that mean for Android? Since they're already taking over the smartphone space, what advantages will we get from the new version? And will that spell the end of Microsoft's doomed Windows 7 Phone 7 debacle?

Microsoft is running way behind and talking trash isn't going to help them.

Umm, Ice Cream Sandwich is Android 3.1, the replacement for Honeycomb. As such it's aimed at tablets and the Google TV, not at the smartphone market.
