How to use powerline extender throughout old house where it only works in some areas?

I got a ZyXEL powerline extender for use in my house, which is pretty large and was built in the late 1800s, so the walls are thick and solid and WiFi performance isn’t great. The thing is that the powerline extender works great in one part of the house, but not at all in another. Any ideas what the problem could be?
I'd contact the manufacturer and ask them for their feedback. Chances are that someone else has had a similar problem, and they could probably give you some useful advice on how to deal with it.
With an old and large house, it’s almost certainly because there are multiple circuits in the house. If you have the powerline extenders on different circuits, even in the same home, it isn’t going to work. You could figure it out by flipping breakers in your fuse box (or reading the labeling inside the box if the electrician was good), or just try out a number of outlets with the powerline extender to determine which are on the same circuit.
