Accidentally formatted Windows 8 partition. Any way to recover it?

I'm a basic computer user and don't know enough about those hacks. While moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8, I've chosen to delete an important partition having critical information. I can't live without it.

Serious help needed from you guys!!

Much thanks in advance!!

First things first, you can look for window.old folder in your bootable partition and restore your data. You might be in trouble if the windows.old folder is missing as there are no other way to get back your data other than using recovery programs.

In most cases, free recovery programs like Recuva can do the needed job and bring back your files back to life. In typical circumstances, when the files were damaged or become corrupted due to keep using the system even after deletion or formatting.

To address such circumstances, you'll need little more powerful and advanced recovery programs such as Stellar Phoenix, GetDataBack or similar. These software has built in scanning engine to carefully treat your lost or formatted files as well as partitions and recover them back safely. You can try the software using demo download from here:

You can use any free tool (like Recuva or Disk Drill) to recover your partition. These tools will help you to find the “map” to your old partition and rebuild it, so your files can be recovered.

Looks like you already have an answer to your question, but here's a link to the Windows 8 support page in case anything else comes up:
