Are there any drawbacks to running Ubuntu in a virtual machine on a Windows PC instead of a clean install of Ubuntu?

I would like to give Ubuntu a try, but I’m not so dedicated to it to trying it that I’m willing to buy a new computer for it or install it instead of Windows so I was thinking of using VMware to run it on my Windows desktop. Will I get a full Ubuntu experience running it in VMware, or are there drawbacks to this approach?

A virtual machine is a great way to get a taste of Ubuntu or any other Linux distribution. But you might want to use VirtualBox instead of VMWare since VirtualBox is free and open source software.

You can get VirtualBox here:
