I’m not so sure this is necessary either, but it is easy so what the heck.
1. Plug in to AC and fully charge the battery. Let it “rest” in a fully charged state for 2-3 hours.
2. Unplug your MacBook and use it until the battery gets low and your MacBook automatically goes into sleep mode.
3. Leave it in this discharged state overnight (or at least 5-6 hours).
4. Plug it back in and let it charge until it is once again fully charged.
