What is the bootloader on an Android phone?

I always see bootloaders mentioned in a locked/unlocked context on Android forum discussions, but I don't know what it actually is or does. Anyone?

Ah, ok. That makes sense. Now I know what it means that my phone has a locked bootloader. Thanks for the info!

Hi,

A boot loader is a computer program that loads an operating system or some other software for the computer after completion of the self-tests. It will help to reboot or restart to cell phone.

Thanks

This might solve your problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Bootloader.

Basically its a code that is executed before any OS starts to run.It packages the instruction to boot OS kernel and most of them have their own debugging environment.

A bootloader is usually locked on android phone device, bcause the manufacturers want you to stick to their android OS specifically designed for the device.

Hope it helps :)
