How to fix SDD that has stopped being recognized by PC?

I have a Crucial M4 64GB SSD that I’ve had for over a year as a second drive. It’s worked great the entire time, but suddenly my Windows 7 PC has stopped recognizing that it exists. If I go into My Computer, that drive is just gone. Any ideas on how to resolve the issue?

I can't answer your question directly, but here's a link to the Crucial support site. Hopefully can find some additional information there.

It might be failing, but there is a known issue on some Crucial M4s called the 5200 hour bug. It sounds like your SSD might be old enough to have the problem. There is a firmware patch that might fix your problem. There is a nice guide on Storage Review that will walk you through the patch process. Hopefully that will take care of it. If not, be sure to check all your cables and connection before you start shopping for a replacement.
