What’s new in Google Maps 3.0?

Honestly, I couldn’t ask for much more with Google Maps “old” version. It does everything I need, has a decent UI, and is generally quite accurate (unlike those dark days of 15 years ago when Mapquest would routinely send me to corn fields). 3.0.0 is supposed to be a major update. What does it bring to the show that is new? Anything really significant, or is it just a fresh coat of paint?

To add to what Jim said, I think of the changes improved offline support and integration with Uber are the two main ones (if you use Uber especially). I ride motorcycles a lot in the mountains where there is no data coverage, and I am really looking forward to seeing how much of a difference the offline support changes make.
