You can use ActiveX filtering. Enable it by going into TOOLS>SAFETY>ACTIVEX FILTERING. After you have enabled it, when you visit a website that uses ActiveX content, a pop-up will advise you that some content is disabled on the page, and give you the option to turn off ActiveX filtering. A small icon will appear in the address bar, and you can toggle filtering on and off for the website.
