VMware Vsphere5 is released; does IT want it?

VMware CEO Paul Maritz believes that "most people just want [IT] infrastructure to go away." But if the redesigned VMware product has simplified things too much, do traditional IT departments want to deploy products which will eliminate their work?

VSphere 5 certainly looks impressive:

Now that VMware is focusing their products on being cloud-compatible, virtual computing is looking more interesting to me. The fact that they're adding security, backup, and data recovery features is an important shift towards treating the platform as a mature component of modern business.

More importantly, can IT afford it. The pricing structure for VSphere 5 is based on a calculation in CPU cores + memory, unlike previous versions. It looks to be quite a bit of a price hike which may hold down the adoption rate
